The Nigeria Police Force has stated that they are not responsible for managing cows that roam freely in Abuja. They explained that they will only get involved if the cows are involved in a crime, like damaging property or trespassing. The police said that the responsibility for controlling animals falls to the Ministry or Department of the Environment. During a recent security briefing, police spokesperson CSP Ani Iniedu emphasized that if someone has a complaint about cattle causing problems, they should report it to the police, who will then investigate. However, the police will not actively search for roaming cows. Residents have expressed concerns about the cows being on roads, worrying about traffic issues and safety. The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, mentioned that he could address the cow grazing issue but chose not to discuss it further, citing national security concerns.
