The Lagos State House of Assembly is reviewing the financial activities of the local governments and council development areas for 2024. This review, which will last two weeks, is being conducted by a committee focused on public accounts. The committee is looking into how these councils earn and spend money to ensure they are managing public funds properly. Officials from several local councils, including Alimosho and Ikeja, have already met with the committee to discuss their financial records. The committee's chairman, Prince Nureni Akinsanya, emphasized that this process is not meant to target anyone unfairly, but rather to ensure transparency and accountability in how public funds are used. The councils will need to respond to any questions raised in the audit and provide supporting documents. The findings from this review will be shared with the House for further action. Other councils will also have the opportunity to present their accounts as the review continues.
