In Ebonyi State, two new Local Government Chairmen have been sworn in: Osborne Umahi, the son of the Minister of Works, and Chidi Nwode, who is the brother-in-law of the Governor. Umahi will lead the Ohaozara Local Government Area, while Nwode will oversee Ikwo Local Government Area. During the ceremony, Governor Francis Nwifuru encouraged all 13 new chairmen to work hard and ensure their political party, the APC, does well in the upcoming 2027 elections. He advised them to prevent opposition from gaining strength in their areas and emphasized the importance of teamwork, especially between the chairmen and their vice chairmen. The governor compared the vice chairmen to spare tires, saying they should support the chairmen and stay involved in daily activities without letting gossip affect their relationships. Chief Timothy Nwachi, who is the re-elected chairman of Afikpo, thanked the governor and party leaders for their trust and promised to work hard to meet expectations and help the APC succeed in the future.
