Gabon’s national soccer team captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has decided to leave the team because he feels "humiliated." This feeling comes after he was left out of the team and then brought back following the disappointing performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, where Gabon lost all three of their matches. Aubameyang, who is the top scorer for Gabon, expressed his frustration in a TV interview, stating that he was unfairly blamed for the team's failure, even though he played while injured. He mentioned that this situation was the final straw for him. After the team's poor showing, the Gabonese government took action by firing the coaching staff and suspending the team, which upset many fans. Aubameyang believes the team's issues are deeper than just his role. Now, as he steps away, the new coach of Gabon, Sebastien Migne, will have to prepare for upcoming matches without him. Aubameyang is also making a move in his club career, joining Deportivo La Coruna in Spain.
