The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has issued a warning to teachers and school owners about fake websites and people pretending to be representatives of the council. Dr. Ronke Soyombo, the head of TRCN, stated that these fraudsters are using the council’s name and logo to trick people into giving them money. She emphasized that TRCN has not authorized anyone to collect fees or handle registrations outside of their official website, which is www.trcn.gov.ng. Any other portals or individuals claiming to offer TRCN services are not legitimate. Soyombo advised everyone to be cautious of messages on social media or emails that claim to provide TRCN services, like registration or certification. Payments should never be made to personal bank accounts, as the council does not operate this way. Certificates obtained through unofficial means are considered fake and will not be accepted by TRCN. If anyone has already paid money to these scammers, they should report it to the police and inform the TRCN. The council is taking legal action against those impersonating them or committing fraud. Soyombo urged everyone to verify information through official TRCN channels before taking any action.
