The African Development Bank and AXIAN Group have started a new program to help over 34,000 businesses owned by women in Africa. This program aims to make it easier for these women to get financial support and business help, especially in countries like Madagascar, Tanzania, Senegal, Togo, and Comoros. Despite Africa having a high number of women entrepreneurs, many struggle to access funds, facing a huge financing gap of about $49 billion. The new initiative will use AXIAN's digital platforms, Mixx and Mvola, to provide financial services, training in financial literacy, and support for business development. The program has two main parts: It will offer specific digital financial products to women-led small and medium-sized businesses. It will provide training to help women improve their financial knowledge and digital skills. By using mobile technology and digital lending, the program aims to reach women who usually have trouble getting traditional financial services. The goal is to help these women grow their businesses, create jobs, and better participate in the economy. Leaders from both AXIAN and the African Development Bank emphasize that the challenge is not about women starting businesses, but about giving them the financial tools and opportunities they need to succeed. This initiative is part of a larger effort to support women's economic empowerment across Africa.
