In Anambra State, Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has encouraged newly recognized traditional rulers to be fair and caring leaders for everyone in their communities. He emphasized that lasting peace is essential for local development. During a ceremony where he presented recognition certificates to two new monarchs, Igwe John Nzekwesili Nweke and Igwe Ethelbirth Muoka, Soludo congratulated them and acknowledged the challenges they will face as leaders. He urged them to work hard to maintain peace and act as “fathers” to all their people. The governor also mentioned that the state is developing a new law to improve how communities are governed, as the current system has led to conflicts and court disputes over leadership. He noted that the existing community governance relies on voluntary town unions, which can create rival factions. Soludo called on experienced traditional rulers to support the new leaders as they aim to build a better society. The two new rulers promised to work towards uniting their communities and fostering peace.
