The Arewa Think Tank has come to the defense of Mohammed Shehu, the Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), after he faced criticism for his comments on Nigeria's financial policies. Yakubu explained that it is important for the RMAFC to be involved in discussions about revenue and fiscal matters, as this is part of its job. He emphasized that the commission's role is to ensure that the country’s revenues are monitored and shared fairly among the different levels of government. He also pointed out that the RMAFC has been actively involved in national debates about taxation and fiscal reforms. Furthermore, Yakubu urged critics to focus on the actual issues raised by the RMAFC rather than questioning its right to speak on these important financial topics.
