In an interview, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, shared his predictions for the 2027 presidential election in Nigeria. He believes that President Bola Tinubu will receive at least 25% of the votes in every state in Northern Nigeria. In contrast, he thinks that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will struggle to get even 10% of the votes in many Southern states. Wike dismissed concerns that Tinubu's support in the North is weakening, arguing that political analysts should also consider Atiku's difficulties in the South. He confidently named specific states in the North Central region, such as Plateau, Nasarawa, Kwara, and Kogi, where he believes Tinubu will win. Furthermore, Wike argued that economic issues, like hunger, have not historically influenced election results in Nigeria. He pointed out that during previous elections, including when President Buhari was elected, people voted despite facing challenges like insecurity and hunger.
