US Treasury issues $1 coin with Trump’s face on it

The US Treasury has released a new $1 coin that features the face of President Donald Trump. This coin is part of a celebration for the 250th anniversary of the United States. A roll of 25 coins costs $61, which is much higher than their face value, and a bag of 100 coins is priced at $154.50. There was some confusion about whether these coins would be used as money or just for collecting, but the US Mint confirmed that they can be used in circulation. However, this move goes against a federal law that says no living president can appear on US currency. Trump has been trying to change many traditions in his second term, including putting his name on various national institutions. The new coin shows Trump's face along with the words “Liberty” and “In God We Trust,” and it marks the years 1776-2026. The other side of the coin features a version of the presidential seal. This coin is part of Trump's ongoing efforts to have his image on US currency, including plans for a new $250 bill, which would require a change in the law. The Treasury has not commented on whether the new coin breaks the existing law.
