The police in Abuja have arrested two former prisoners, Rose Daniel and Blessing John, for allegedly kidnapping and trafficking children. They were caught trying to escape with a four-year-old girl named Ummi Mariam Abdullah on August 27, 2026. The police acted quickly after receiving a tip from a community member who saw what was happening. The suspects had previously been convicted for a similar crime in December 2025 but were released on bail after spending five months in jail. Since then, they are believed to have kidnapped and sold four children, with the latest two sold to an accomplice in Port Harcourt for 1.5 million Naira each. The rescued girl has been returned to her family, and the suspects are still in police custody as investigations continue. The police are urging parents to be vigilant about their children's safety and to report any suspicious activities.
