The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has issued a warning to politicians, particularly Precious Oruche, known as Mama Pee, about using Jesus Christ in political discussions as the 2027 elections approach. They emphasized that no politician should be seen as a savior and that Jesus should not be used to support any political candidate. In a statement, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, the president of CAN, reminded everyone that political support should not mix with religious reverence. He stated that Nigerians can freely support or criticize any political candidate, like Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, or Bola Tinubu, without compromising their Christian values. CAN urged people to focus on important issues like policies and the future of Nigeria, rather than personal attacks. They also warned against treating political parties or victories as spiritually significant, stressing that no political outcome can replace the salvation that Jesus represents. As the election season heats up, CAN called for respectful and responsible political discussions, reminding everyone to keep their political debates separate from their faith.
