Warren Buffett, the famous investor, has made a big investment in Alphabet, the parent company of Google, because he wants to benefit from the growing field of artificial intelligence (AI). Greg Abel, who is now the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway after Buffett, mentioned that Buffett is still involved in important decisions at the company. In a recent interview, Abel explained that Buffett built a nearly $38 billion stake in Alphabet in less than a year, making it one of the largest investments in Berkshire's portfolio. Abel highlighted that AI is significantly impacting various businesses, and Alphabet is a major player in this area. Earlier this year, Berkshire Hathaway increased its investment in Alphabet by participating in a special stock offering. Abel consulted with Buffett before making this decision, which shows their collaborative approach to managing the company. They agreed on a $10 billion investment at a lower price than the market value. Buffett has typically avoided investing in tech companies, preferring more stable businesses, but he has made exceptions, like his successful investment in Apple. Interestingly, Alphabet's structure was inspired by Berkshire Hathaway, as its founders visited Buffett to learn about his business model. Abel emphasized that he and Buffett have a strong working relationship and often discuss business matters. He also mentioned that Buffett enjoys the company's investments in Japan, indicating that he remains engaged and passionate about the business, even at 96 years old.
