The ILT criticized the government's actions that they see as limiting the opposition and noted that the South-East suffers from poor infrastructure and economic opportunities. They highlighted issues like the lack of modern railways and the underutilization of seaports in their region. Additionally, they support the idea of regional autonomy, arguing that it could lead to better development for different parts of Nigeria. They believe that restructuring the country along regional lines could help address these issues and promote national unity.
