Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Nigeria, recently stated that he is in control of the political situation in both Rivers State and Abuja, despite not being a governor anymore. He believes that having a formal political position is not necessary to have influence and power in politics. During a media chat, Wike emphasized that he is actively involved in the political landscape and is committed to helping President Bola Ahmed Tinubu win elections in these areas. He referred to himself as the "General Commander of the Political Infantry," indicating his strong leadership role. Wike also addressed concerns about his frequent trips back to Rivers State, clarifying that he is not neglecting his duties in Abuja. Instead, he believes that being physically present and engaging with local leaders is essential for effective political leadership. He aims to ensure that his grassroots network works closely with the central government to achieve electoral success.
