Three police officers have been fired for their involvement in the shooting death of Anthony Obodo, a graduate from the University of Port Harcourt. Anthony was shot while waiting for his National Youth Service call-up letter on Ada George road in Port Harcourt. The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, announced that the officers were dismissed after an investigation confirmed their responsibility for the incident. They were tried in a police hearing, and now they will face criminal charges in court. Adepoju emphasized that the Nigeria Police Force will not protect officers who misuse their power or break the law. He stated that the police are committed to professionalism and accountability, and they will take action against any misconduct. The shooting occurred when a patrol team chased Anthony, and Corporal Alfred Louis fired at his vehicle, hitting him. Anthony was taken to a hospital but unfortunately died from his injuries. The police are also searching for another officer, Inspector Solomon Nwrogu, who fled after the incident.
