Daniil Medvedev and Jessica Pegula won their matches and moved on to the third round of the US Open, but rain caused delays in the tournament. During the match, two birds landed on the net, which caused a brief pause as the point had to be replayed, but Medvedev stayed focused and won. Jessica Pegula, the third seed, had a quick victory over Sofia Kenin, winning 6-3, 6-1 in just 56 minutes. She will next play Leylah Fernandez. The rain had already caused problems the day before, delaying some matches. Other players, like Alex Michelsen, also had notable wins, while some matches were postponed, including those of defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and three-time champion Aryna Sabalenka.
