Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has decided to increase the salaries of traditional rulers in the state, including Emirs, Chiefs, and local leaders. This decision was praised by the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), which believes it will help traditional leaders play a bigger role in promoting peace, security, and development in their communities. ALGON stated that traditional rulers are important partners in governance, acting as a bridge between the government and the people. They believe that higher pay will motivate these leaders to better support efforts in gathering information, resolving conflicts, and encouraging community involvement. The association also mentioned that improving the welfare of traditional rulers could help tackle security issues and foster harmony across the state's 23 local government areas. They expressed their commitment to working with the government and urged traditional rulers to collaborate more with local councils to support peace and development in the state.
