On August 26, he learned that a severe flood was approaching his school, Tribhuvan Trishuli Secondary School, and he had only about 14 minutes to act. Instead of waiting for more information, Dawadi immediately evacuated the school. He rang the school bell and instructed teachers to get the students out quickly. They used buses, motorcycles, and walked to safety, moving to higher ground just before the flood hit. The school building was destroyed, but all the children were safe because of his swift actions. Sadly, the flood did claim the life of a school staff member who had gone back toward the river area. The floods have caused widespread destruction across Nepal, damaging many homes and schools, affecting the education of nearly 19,000 children. Dawadi's decision has been recognized internationally as a strong example of effective leadership in emergencies. His actions highlight the importance of being prepared and acting quickly to protect lives during a crisis.
