The 8th edition of the Government College Ughelli (GCU) Relays has been confirmed for November 14, 2026, consistent with its tradition of being held on the second Saturday of November. The confirmation was made by the President General Worldwide of the GCU Old Boys Association, HRM Albert Akpomudje, SAN, at a recent NEC meeting. The date follows the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, where the new GCU Relays helmsman, Omatseye Nesiama, will serve as a Technical Director. Nesiama, a former Technical Director of the Athletic Federation of Nigeria, will take control of the annual inter-school collegiate meeting.
