The federal government has inaugurated the National Steering Committee for the Lagos International Financial Centre (LIFC) initiative, aimed at creating a globally competitive financial ecosystem in Nigeria. Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, described LIFC as a strategic initiative to deepen capital markets, attract investment, and promote financial innovation. He stated that the initiative, endorsed by President Bola Tinubu, is a national economic priority. The committee is tasked with leveraging Lagos's strategic position to establish a financial centre of international standing.
