Adopt Obi as consensus candidate, group tells opposition committee

The Igbo Heroes and Icons Foundation (IHIF) has urged the opposition parties' committee to adopt Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), as the consensus candidate for the 2027 presidential election. In a statement by its National Coordinator, Chinedu Nsofor, the group cited Obi's competence, integrity, and principles as reasons for their endorsement. They highlighted his tenure as Anambra State governor, claiming he cleared outstanding obligations, paid salaries and pensions, and left substantial savings for his successor. The foundation also noted that Anambra remained fiscally stable during Obi's leadership.
