Army prepares troops for lawful conduct ahead 2027 elections

The General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola, has charged officers and soldiers deployed for election duties to uphold the Constitution, respect fundamental human rights, and maintain political neutrality. He gave the charge at a sensitisation seminar held on September 2, 2026, at the Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration Auditorium in Lagos. The seminar focused on lawful conduct, constitutional responsibilities, and the role of the military in election security. Babalola stated that the seminar demonstrates the Division's commitment to professional development and responsible discharge of its constitutional duties.
