The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has condemned an aerial attack on two of its trucks carrying food aid in South Kordofan, Sudan, on 30 August. The trucks, clearly marked with WFP banners, were destroyed, losing 50 metric tonnes of food destined for Kadugli, where WFP supports nearly 58,000 people facing emergency food insecurity. WFP has recorded eight aerial attacks on its premises since January, and the UN has repeatedly called for an end to the conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.
