The U.S. Mission Nigeria has highlighted that King Sunny Adé's album 'Jùjú Music' spent 29 weeks on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart in 1983, making history as the longest-charting album by a Nigerian artist for about 40 years. The mission noted that this achievement underscored the growing global influence of Nigerian music. The record was eventually broken by another Nigerian musician in 2023.
