The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has commenced desilting of drains along Airport Road and other parts of Abuja following heavy rainfall that triggered flash floods. The Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Mr Richard Dauda, stated that the flooding was anticipated due to weather forecasts predicting heavy rains this year. He noted that the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, had earlier mentioned climate change as a factor. The desilting is part of efforts to mitigate future flooding in the city.
