Uber, in partnership with British AI company Wayve, has launched autonomous rides in London, marking its second European city for robotaxi services after Zagreb. The launch comes less than 24 hours after Uber exited Nigeria, where it had operated for over 12 years. Initially, fewer than 20 Wayve-powered Ford Mustang Mach-E vehicles will be available, and passengers requesting UberX, Uber Comfort, or Uber Electric may be matched with an autonomous vehicle at no extra cost. A licensed operator will remain in the vehicle for monitoring, with fully driverless operations expected later subject to regulatory approval.
