Oyam County North Member of Parliament, Hon. Eunice Otuko, has stated that reviving Lira Spinning Mills is crucial for agro-industrialisation and economic growth in the Lango region. She appeared before the Committee on Tourism, Trade and Industry on 3 September 2026, noting that the mill's dormancy for 40 years has deprived cotton farmers of a stable market. Otuko added that revitalisation could absorb up to 7,000 unemployed youth and women in Lira City and neighbouring districts.
