The Mauritian government is intensifying community consultations for the proposed M4 Motorway project, engaging residents in the eastern and northern regions. Minister of National Infrastructure Govindranath Gunness chaired a meeting in Caroline, with Minister of Information Technology Avinash Ramtohul also present. The consultations aim to gather public views and address concerns ahead of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report preparation. Although the project was exempted from an EIA certificate in 2021, the government has chosen to proceed with public engagement.
