The Ugandan government has received approval to borrow €207.75 million from Citi Bank and other financial institutions for the construction of the Jinja-Mbulambuti-Kamuli-Bukungu road and Jinja City roads. The motion was presented by Finance Minister Henry Musasizi on September 3, 2026. The 127km road is a critical corridor linking Busoga to Lake Kyoga and provides an alternative route between Northern and Southern Uganda. The 10km Jinja city roads are expected to enhance trade between Jinja and neighboring districts.
