US ICE agent accused of lying about shooting immigrant

A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent, Christian Castro, faces charges of making false statements about the January shooting of Venezuelan migrant Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis in Minneapolis. Castro, 52, was placed on leave earlier this year over the incident. Federal prosecutors in Minnesota sought civil rights charges but were overruled by Department of Justice leaders in Washington. Castro also faces state charges of felony assault in connection with the shooting.
