The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has dismissed a security officer, Daniel Stephen, for allegedly granting unauthorised access to Aichatou Assabe El-Rufai, one of the wives of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, while he was in custody. Stephen, attached to the commission's internal security team, was caught on CCTV assisting Assabe to enter the ICPC premises on July 5, 2026, outside the approved visitor access procedure. He reportedly admitted his involvement in a handwritten statement, acknowledging that he helped El-Rufai's wife gain access through the back door and escorted her to the section where El-Rufai was held.
