Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has called for stronger collaboration, investment, and connectivity to unlock the economic potential of aviation and tourism in West and Central Africa. He made the call at the AeroWest Summit 2026 in Lagos, themed 'Financing Connectivity: Unlocking Aviation & Tourism Growth in West and Central Africa.' Barbados' High Commissioner to Nigeria and Ghana, Juliette Bynoe-Sunderland, also made similar calls. Obasanjo said Africa has the attractions, culture, and heritage to become a major global tourism destination but lacks the knowledge and commitment to preserve and promote them.
