GDP growth data masking deep industrial, security crises — MAN

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has warned that Nigeria's 4.43 percent economic growth in the second quarter of 2026 masks a deepening industrial crisis, as services dominate economic activity while manufacturing and industry lose ground. MAN Director-General Segun Ajayi-Kadir made this remark in response to the National Bureau of Statistics GDP report. Senator Gbenga Daniel, representing Ogun East, added that the true measure of economic progress should be citizens' lived experiences, not just GDP growth, and stressed that Nigeria cannot have a strong economy without security.
