Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has dismissed opposition politicians' promises to restore fuel subsidy, including that of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, as empty campaign rhetoric that is not fiscally realistic or sustainable. Speaking at the 7th Freedom Online Newspaper Lecture in Lagos, Sanwo-Olu said such promises are populist and cannot be sustained by any responsible government. He discussed the gains and prospects of President Bola Tinubu's reforms, noting that Nigeria's democratic and electoral systems are evolving.
