The Netherlands central bank announced on Wednesday that it had moved approximately 86 metric tons of gold from New York and Ottawa to London between March and August. The reallocation was made in response to increasing geopolitical unrest and to improve crisis preparedness. As a result, London now holds 32.1% of the Dutch gold reserves, up from 18.1%, while New York's share decreased from 31.3% to 18.5%. This move reflects a broader trend among central banks to diversify gold storage locations amid global uncertainties.
