The Afokang Correctional Centre in Calabar, Cross River State, has disclosed that 48 inmates are currently on death row, including one woman. Chief Superintendent of Corrections A.E. Edet revealed this during a visit by scholars from the Rights Academy. He stated that the inmates were sentenced to death by competent courts. The facility also holds 35 male inmates serving life sentences and has a total population of 784 inmates against a capacity of 450.
