The Executive Secretary of the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), Mohammed Ibrahim, has called for an innovative financial framework that combines public, private and concessional resources to accelerate the modernisation of African agriculture. He made the call at the Africa Food Systems Forum (AFSF) in Kigali, Rwanda, during a plenary on 'Aligning Investment to Fast-Track CAADP Objectives.' Ibrahim said African countries needed to move beyond traditional funding models and adopt financial structures that align investments with national priorities, reduce risks and attract greater private-sector participation. He noted that the major challenge facing agricultural financing was not only the availability of capital but also its fragmentation and poor coordination.
