A new Acute Psychiatric Unit has been opened at Khayelitsha District Hospital in South Africa, the second of three such units planned for the Western Cape this year. The R87.41 million facility has 30 beds and is designed to provide safer and more dignified care for psychiatric patients. Western Cape Health Minister Mireille Wenger and Infrastructure Minister Tertuis Simmers attended the opening ceremony.
