The Nigerian Army dispersed protesting students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), on Thursday using gunshots and tear gas after the students barricaded major roads. The protest was against the prolonged strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Joint Action Committee (JAC) in state-owned tertiary institutions in Ondo State. Video clips showed armed soldiers chasing students around the campus. Despite the military presence, many students initially stood their ground.
