Rivers: NSCDC investigates substance linked to deaths of suspected oil thieves

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Rivers State has pledged a thorough investigation into the deaths of over 37 youths at an illegal petroleum tapping point in Okari Jetty, Okrika Local Government Area. The command's spokesperson, Olufemi Ayodele, stated that the incident may have resulted from exposure to hazardous petroleum fumes. Rivers State Commandant Dr Dennis Reuben commiserated with affected families and assured the public that the command is collaborating with other security agencies to unravel the circumstances.
