The Borno State Government has paid N622.3 million to cover the NECO examination fees for 27,599 students in public schools for the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination. The Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Lawan Wakilbe, announced this while presenting the cheque to NECO officials in Maiduguri. He stated that the payment is part of the government's commitment to ensuring no child is denied education due to financial constraints. Since 2019, the government has consistently subsidized 75% of examination fees for eligible students.
