The Ugandan government is drafting parole rules to allow eligible prisoners to serve part of their sentences outside prison, aiming to reduce overcrowding. Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja announced that the Uganda Prisons Service is finalizing the Parole Rules and Regulations, currently before the First Parliamentary Counsel. Under the arrangement, beneficiaries will remain under supervision, report to parole officers, maintain good conduct, and participate in rehabilitation programs. Breach of conditions may result in return to custody.
