UN adopts African-backed proposal for new world map

The United Nations General Assembly has adopted an African-backed proposal for a new world map that more accurately reflects the relative sizes of countries and regions. The resolution, adopted on Friday, calls for a more equitable representation of the world, particularly correcting the underrepresentation of Africa. It was passed with 164 votes in favour, six abstentions, and one vote against from the United States.
