Professor Kenneth Amaeshi, of the University of Lagos, stated that Nigerians do not hate paying taxes but want assurance that their contributions will be properly utilized. He made this assertion at an inaugural public lecture on tax compliance and accountability. Amaeshi identified poor accountability and declining public trust as major obstacles to tax compliance.
