President Bola Tinubu departed Abuja on 30 August for a three-week annual leave in Europe, starting in London. The Presidency described the trip as a working vacation and stated that he would return to Nigeria to join the campaign ahead of the January 2027 elections. The timing of the trip drew criticism from former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra governor Peter Obi, who questioned the necessity and cost of the journey while the country faces challenges.
