Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has responded to renewed allegations against him, describing them as the convulsions of political opponents who are unable to defend the current administration's economic record. In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said the recycling of decades-old allegations from the Obasanjo era is an admission that his opponents have run out of answers to hunger, collapsing purchasing power, and the high cost of living. He challenged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to allow full disclosure of his record of alleged complicity in hard drug dealings, in which Tinubu reportedly forfeited a sum of money. Atiku's remarks were made in response to a call by a former lawmaker for the EFCC to reopen a corruption case against him.
