The Nigeria Police Force has cautioned political stakeholders against making inciting remarks that could trigger electoral violence ahead of the 2027 general elections. The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, stated that incitement is a criminal offence under Nigerian law and warned that anyone found violating the law would be investigated and prosecuted. He stressed that such remarks would not yield positive results as the country prepares for the polls. The police spokesperson did not cite specific sections of the law but affirmed the Force's responsibility to maintain peace and order.
