‘Africa’s agric sector faces confidence crisis, not capital’

The Executive Secretary of the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), Mohammed Ibrahim, stated at the Africa Food Systems Forum in Kigali that African agriculture faces a confidence crisis rather than a capital shortage. He argued that substantial capital exists but investors are reluctant to commit due to lack of reliable data, predictable markets, and credible institutions. Ibrahim emphasized that boosting investor confidence requires a robust agricultural ecosystem with identifiable farmers and strong leadership. He called for activating leaders to unlock investment in food systems.
