Serena and Venus Williams made a thrilling return to US Open women's doubles, but were defeated by Chan Hao-ching and Maya Joint in a three-set match. The sisters, who have won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles together, rallied from a break down in the third set and led the deciding tiebreaker 5-0 before losing. Venus, 46, and Serena, 44, had not played Grand Slam doubles since 2022. Despite the loss, they showed flashes of their former brilliance, with Serena particularly effective at the net.
